1972 EXTREMELY RARE BRITISH MOD MILITARY ROLEX SUBMARINER Ref 5517

I am happy to offer a very early production of the British MOD (Ministry Of Defence) delivered Rolex Submariner. The reference 5517 is the rarest of all, and this one being one of the first production years (1971-1979). The condition on this example is stunning, retaining its original dial and Sword´ hand´s set and its unique minute graduated bezel. About 1,200 such MOD models were manufactured, composed of both references, the 5513 and the 5517. One can only imagine how few are left and even more so in such condition.

The 5517’s robust construction and exceptional reliability made it the timepiece of choice for elite military operatives conducting clandestine missions and underwater operations. Its water resistance, rated to depths of up to 200 meters (660 feet), surpassed the requirements of most conventional dive watches of its era.

Despite its limited production and exclusive distribution to military personnel, the Rolex Military Submariner 5517 has garnered immense admiration from collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. Its scarcity, coupled with its association with some of the most elite military units in history, has elevated its status to that of a highly coveted collector’s item.
